The awards night spectacular, held in the Queen Mary's elegant Grand Salon, included the presentation of our Festival's Short Film competition winners, Feature Film Competition winners and Screenplay Innovation Awaard recipients. Long Beach's Balboa Studios was, at the turn of the century, the largest producer of motion pictures in the world. Balboa Studios' extravagant facility boasted the talents of Baby Marie Osborne, Jakie Saunders, Henry King, Roscoe "Fattie" Arbuckle, Buster Keaton, William Desmond Taylor and countless others. A recently restored print of Baby Marie's Osborne's break through film Little Mary Sunshine, featuring live piano accompanyment by Michael D. Mortilla was screened.
